A poorly maintained truck or trailer could cause harm or bodily damage even a fatality if the tires or spacers are not maintained properly. Make sure the lugs are always tightened. Always inspect your truck before driving a load or driving in general. Overtightened lugs are just as dangerous as lugs not tightened properly.

Spacers make the vehicle sit wider and appear as if you have wider tires. If you don’t have the cash for wider wheels and tires or you need to run skinnier tires in the winter then spacers might be a good solution for you.

There is an inexpensive solution:

“Wheel Spacers”

There are many brands to choose from. Spacers are measured in mm and inches.

Caution:
combining wheel spacers with wider-than-stock tires increases the chance of tire rubbing and/or damage. Spacers can make the car sit 2.5 inches wider then stock tires without spacers.

Here is the process for how installing wheel spacers on your vehicle’s tires.

First Remove the tire:
Scrub and sand both the rotor and wheel spacer to make sure they are clean
Install the spacer
Apply Permatex Anti Seize to make it easier to move spacers later.
Always install the bottom bolt first
You need a deep thin walled socket to install the wheel spacers
Always Tightened in a star pattern
using a torque wrench tighten to 100lbs of torque and use it in a star pattern when tightening.
Be sure to apply Permatex Anti Seize lubricant to knew threads before reinstalling the wheels to make it easier to remove wheels later.
When tightening lug nuts always start at the bottom first. You want to torque the lug nuts after level with the car.

*tip keep the deep socket in same pouch as your wheel lock key service tool pouch because you never know when you or your mechanic need to remove the spacers.
